About Treasure Coast
Boys Academy
Treasure Coast Academy is a residential therapeutic boarding school designed for at-risk boys. It is an accredited, private school designed to help those struggling academically. The ranch property is located on a 30-acre parcel, 10 miles west of Vero Beach, Florida, in cattle and orange grove country.
The property features everything a boy would want. We have a well-equipped gym and weight machines, a soccer field, kickball field, a basketball court, a pool, and fishing ponds. We also have an equine program and have six horses on the property. We take pride in forming strong relationships with each boy in our care, and much of the life-changing experiences take place while involved in these outdoor activities.
We help at-risk boys struggling with behavior and troubling issues such as falling grades, school suspension, anger, defiance, depression, attention deficit, or attachment disorders.
Our staff works with each boy in cooperation with and participation of their family, bringing a vast amount of experience to the table. Our therapeutic team helps repair the significant catalysts in each boy’s life, bringing on their poor choices and self-destructive attitudes and behaviors.
Treasure Coast Boys Academy of Vero Beach Teen Challenge is a Therapeutic Boarding School designed to facilitate the needs of at-risk young men between the ages of 12-17.
Our purpose is to help them address life-controlling issues and behaviors that have created chaos within the family and put them at a disadvantage by engaging in ill-advised activities. We have created a therapeutic environment where young men can enjoy recreational opportunities, counseling, group studies, and student-led devotionals.
Our Campus is Faith-Based, Christ-Centered, and Discipleship-Driven.
Our approach is capable of customizing and addressing each student’s individual challenges with sensitivity and effectiveness. We offer highly competent supervision at all times, creating a structured program where discipline, responsibility, leadership, and self-confidence can be stimulated and developed. Our residential facilities allow the young men to thrive in their academics at a fully staffed school and online curriculum.
Our Campus staff is trained and motivated to put these young men’s success as our top priority. We have created a culture where God is glorified. The staff exemplifies Christlikeness. The students are safe to discover themselves and develop the character that will thrive and succeed in the community. By the end of their program, we endeavor for the young men to have a thriving relationship with God, a healthy character, and a family restoration that will last a lifetime. Our final investment into their lives is to help them and their family devise an exit strategy following their graduation to give them every advantage for success.
Our goal is to get them through the program and set them up for a prosperous journey throughout their life. Daniel 11:32 says, “…but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”
Our Educational Program and Other Activities

Our Educational Program
In addition to therapy, we provide focused and individualized academic attention for our residents. Education goes on, and credits are earned year-round. As we engage students about their character, integrity, work ethic, and respect for others, values are cultivated that help ensures a higher level of success throughout their academic career. Our on-campus school features a state-of-the-art electronic learning system and “old school” classroom teachers, tutors, and facilitators. Credits earned while on campus are accredited by AdvancEd to transfer to any other educational institution.
Family Involvement
Parents continue to have the main source of influence in their child’s life while they are enrolled at TCBA. The parent’s view on their son’s history is a valuable resource to our counseling staff. Treasure Coast Boys Academy also understands that success in life transformation depends on a strong loving family atmosphere when going home. Unconditional love with clear, well-defined boundaries are just a few of the family dynamics we focus on teaching the family while the student is here. We also provide family weekends and family therapy. We seek to partner as a team effort with parents while their boy is enrolled at TCBA.
Counselors will also work with parents on a Home Contract plan created by the counselor/parent/student team that will outline the support available at home and expectations of returning into the home environment. Topics covered in these contracts include future counseling options, positive peer activities, future school and job opportunities, and conflict resolutions.
Outdoor Recreation
Each student at Treasure Coast has an exciting opportunity to regularly spend time in the wilderness and on the many local waterways and the nearby Atlantic ocean. Boys enjoy horseback riding, hiking, fishing, exploring, and many other wilderness adventures. While they experience fun in the wilderness, our team of counselors and mentors work on their thinking and behaviors. For boys who once had no hope for their own future, this experience shows them that life can be exciting and adventurous without drugs, alcohol, electronic war games, and the other negative influences that were part of their lives in the past.
Individual & Group Therapy
Teens who are struggling often live in a very distorted view of reality. Our counseling department’s goal is to work together with the parents to continually uncover the reality and reveal the truth with their students. The parents, counselor, and student are vital in our counseling process. This process will include individual sessions with the student addressing past hurts, confronting deceptions, taking ownership of past failures, and gaining tools for future successes. Our counselors will coordinate the students’ care throughout their stay and provide the parents with regular updates.
TCBA also utilizes a group counseling curriculum that leads students through addressing struggles common to teenagers in our school. This group dynamic can be a powerful tool where the student can see other’s perspectives and even similarities in a peer having the same struggle. Once students can identify unhealthy thinking patterns, they are then free to accept truth and reject the negative false beliefs.
